At the G20 India Health Working Group meet here, WHO Envoy for Multilateral Affairs Stéphanie Seydoux further said that the agenda being set by the Indian President was ambitious and was well supported by the G20 members and participants.

“The World Health Organization (WHO) is a very strong supporter of the global health agenda set out by the Indian President. It is indeed an ambitious agenda, but it is focused, well articulated and it certainly speaks to the priorities of the day. Is.,” she said.

The first Health Working Group meeting under the G20 India Presidency is currently underway and will conclude on January 20. India assumed the chairmanship of G20 on December 1, 2022.

Seydoux Said about WHO

On the issues being considered in the meeting, Seydoux said the global health architecture, preparedness and response are being discussed.

In addition, better, more equitable and efficient access to adequate counter-measures such as vaccines, drugs and diagnostics was also discussed.

“We are discussing how to improve access to critical vaccines, medicines and diagnostics,” he said.

Seydoux said the framework that should underpin all future global reforms “must be based on solidarity, collaboration and sharing of best practices, as well as transferring technology and capacity”.

“That is certainly the position of the WHO,” she said.

On Wednesday, India said emergency preparedness is an overarching priority that requires building resilient health systems around the world to protect those facing similar crises.
