India made a winning start to its World Cup campaign by defeating Australia by six wickets. The heroes of India’s victory in this match were Lokesh Rahul and Virat Kohli. However, both the batsmen missed the century. Rahul played an unbeaten 97 and Kohli played an inning of 85 runs. Apart from these two, only Hardik Pandya could open his account. He scored 11 runs. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood took three wickets and Mitchell Starc took one wicket. Steve Smith scored the maximum 46 runs for Australia with the bat. Warner also played an inning of 41 runs. In the end Starc contributed 28 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets for India. Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah got two wickets each. Siraj, Hardik and Ashwin took one wicket each.
