It’s easy to use, has end-to-end encryption, and a feature-rich interface that makes it a favorite among both personal and professional users.
The Dark Side: Misuse by Cyber Criminals
Despite all these benefits, WhatsApp has become a breeding ground for all types of cyber crimes in India. Here are some ways through which cyber criminals misuse this platform:
Phishing Scams
Cyber criminals use WhatsApp to send phishing messages that appear to be from trusted sources like banks or government agencies. Such messages contain links or attachments that steal sensitive information such as passwords or financial details.
